It all started back in 1949 with the active & resourceful grandfather Emmanouil Kalogerakis. Together with his son, Evangelos, they start running the “Kalogeraki Dairy Industry”, the first cheese factory in the village Smari, at Kasteli Pediados. At Crete, an island blessed with rich soil & a wonderful climate, farming is processed in a purely traditional way & provides “Kalogeraki Dairy Industry” with pure raw materials. In this way, they ensure that they collect daily the freshest sheep/goat milk, which gives the Cretan cheese the characteristic wild taste & is part of their power. Αdding their love & passion to the recipe, they manage to create authentic cheese products of the most luscious flavour for you.
“Kritiki Graviera me 5 Piperia” or when the Cretan Gruyère is combined with 5 types of peppers in a uniquely delightful cheese for the most sophisticated palates. Another creative combination with mellow & spicy flavour. It is made from fresh sheep & goat milk, & matures for at least 3 months. It is characterized as a hard, very light, yellow-coloured table cheese with asymmetric holes. It contains 5 types of pepper, which make its texture slightly rough. Particularly pleasant & slightly spicy with a rich, fresh milk & pepper taste & aroma.
