In the middle of the Aegean Sea & the rich biodiversity within landscapes, an organic fig farm, the “Askada Farm”, was created in Kymi, on the Greek island of Evia. For Evaggelia & Stathis, the couple behind “Askada Farm”, the source of inspiration is their passion for the exquisite fig of Kymi, which is one of the main elements of the “Mediterranean Diet” since antiquity. Their aim is to highlight the unique characteristics & the fascinating process required to create an “Askada Fig”, in the middle of the Greek summer with the contribution of the Aegean breeze. They are dedicated to offer the most delicious sundried figs & to produce exceptional products that combine inspiration & culinary culture!
The “Great Taste” awarded “Fig Chutney” has endless sweet & savoury applications, being an amazing accompany for cheese & meat plates. Made with the best varieties of Mediterranean dried fruits: organic figs & raisins! Onion & ginger enhance the flavour, to produce a remarkably versatile complement with a thick texture. You can use it on grilled cheese, or as a spread to take your grilled sandwich to the next level! A fantastic addition to richly flavoured meats, or cured sausages, & absolutely delicious even as a burger topping. Dilute slightly with water & use to glaze meats & poultry with roasted, sweet potatoes & butternut squash… Mix it with authentic Greek yoghurt to make dips, or whisk into a vinaigrette with extra virgin olive oil & use it as a salad dressing!
