“The Chiots go in pairs” (aka “Oι Χιώτες πάνε δυο-δυο”)…
In 2009, two friends Iakovos & Manos, decided to start a business activity on the wonderful island of Chios. After many discussions & the experience of one day’s amateur brewing of Manos (!), they came up with the idea of creating “Chios Beer”. After all, an island with so many local products could not miss its own beer. So after overcoming the bureaucracy of the non-existent Greek legislation for microbreweries, in 2011 the journey of creating theirs began, in Kampos of Chios!
“Fresh House Ale” is produced from selected malt varieties & whole hops (Magnum, Bobek & Amarillo). It is fermented slowly & traditionally, in limited batches, without preservatives or other additives & with a maturation period of 4 to 6 weeks. It is bottled without pasteurization & filtering, preserving its taste & organoleptic characteristics. It has a yellowish colour with orange highlights & white foam. The aromas of hops & citrus dominate, & the body is rich with a fruity taste & subtle bitterness.
