“BIO Feta”… the Organic King of Greek Cheeses!!!
“BIO Feta” is a brined curd white cheese with a Protected Designation of Origin (P.D.O.) indication. This means that “BIO Feta” cheese can only be produced in Greece & in certain regions within it, from pasteurized fresh & organic sheep (min. 70%) & goat (max. 30%) milk, following a certain process & after maturing for at least 2 months.
“BIO Feta” is one of the most unique cheeses you can find. It is mildly nutty in flavour, has a soft but firm texture, & adds the perfect slightly salty, cheesy punch to an otherwise boring dish. Moreover, “BIO Feta” has a unique nutritional profile that may make it worthy of the title “Healthiest Cheese in the World”. It is a good source of Protein, Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin B12, Calcium & Phosphorous but is also high in Cholesterol & Sodium, thus needs to be consumed in moderation.
“BIO Feta of Menikio” is produced from pasteurized fresh & organic sheep’s (70%) & goats’ (30%) milk that is received within 2-3h after milking. The organic milk originates from animals of local producers from the surrounding mountainous & lowland areas of Mt Menikio. They are all certified for the production of high quality & nutritional value organic milk with respect to the environment but also the animal itself as well as its feed. It is produced with the addition to the pasteurized milk of traditional yoghurt culture, natural enzymes & lactic acid cultures, thus has very low lactose content & is highly digestible. “Menikio’s Organic Feta” is offered to consumers after maturation of 2 months in natural brine & offers a unique taste & aroma.
